Women & Art

I have enjoyed watching this series on BBC iplayer, the tales of some very inspiring women.

The Story of Women and Art: Episode 2 Amanda Vickery’s story of female creativity reaches the 18th Century. http://WWW.BBC.CO.UK http://www.bbc.co.uk/i/p01y5sgp/

Whilst viewing  the beautiful costumes in this programme I was reminded of a trip  a few years back to  Grasse in the South of France.  I popped into the rather charming museum in Rue Ossola which houses a stunning collection of traditional 18th &19th century costumes . Beautiful patterned fabrics and rich embroidery are a delight to behold and recount the lives of the women of Provence in the 18th century.
